Pout Pout Fish Goes to School!


(look at these pout pout faces!!!) 
My book lovers were super excited to enjoy a visit from the author and illustrator of The Pout Pout Fish series. 


We loved reading along to

and watching Dan Hannah teach us how to draw fish!




We practiced our pout pout faces.. and  did a little singing and dancing to "If You are Pouty and You Know It"

Ten Timid Ghosts - FUN!!!

We just LOVE this book...
It is a fun counting book with many great illustrations and rhymes.

The students are so engaged while listening to it and want to read it again and again! They LOVE retelling it too!

I decided to create some ghostly materials to go with this story. I am SO happy I did! My students reeeeeeeeeally love using all of the materials. 




Check out the fun Literacy and Math pack that I created that go along with 
TEN TIMID GHOSTS. 

Included in the pack:



Large character pictures for whole group story retelling.


Small character picture cards and name/word cards for small group retelling








Ghost number and quantity match up or ordering

Ghostly 10 frames for students to build quantities for 1-10


Subtraction sentences, answers, and ghosts for students to use for solving

Book Lovers Giveaway!!!!

I have found many great new books to share with my Growing Readers this year. 

Good thing, because a I have a group of TOTAL BOOK LOVERS that can't get their hands on enough books! :)

Being Frank is a wonderful story about being a little too honest. The writing is very witty. I found myself giggling  as I read it to my students... and they have been passing it around for read to self time. 
They love it!!!

We "reviewed" Green when the Caldecott Honors were announced. The illustrations and cut-outs in the book are amazing!! Also a class favorite!

1-2-3 Peas!!


I may or may not have jumped up and down,  with PURE excitement when I picked my students up from library and one of them had this in their hands:


We went right back to the classroom to read it... and, as expected, all of my students LOVED it!!!

I always read LMNO Peas to my kindergarten friends when working on the alphabet or list books. It has been one of our classroom favorites all year... so we were thrilled that Keith Baker decided to keep up the pea fun with 


The illustrations are gorgeous, I love the writing, and I have about 5 different ideas of what we can do with this book. :)
